|
|
Desde la Biblioteca:
We are including in our Library Section references to English books from our library hopping to encourage and promote their reading among our school community.
This week book is: “Things Fall Apart”. Author: Chinua Achebe (Pages: 185)
|
Chinua Achebe is a Nigerian novelist, born in 1930. He made a splash with the publication of his first novel, Things Fall Apart, in 1958, a work that in part led to him being called the “patriarch of the African novel” translated into more than 50 languages.
“Things Fall Apart”. The groundbreaking novel centers on the clash between native African culture and the influence of white Christian missionaries and the colonial government in Nigeria. An unflinching look at the discord, the book was a startling success and became required reading in many schools across the world.
We are happy to present this book already in our library awaiting to find a reader. Currently, there are three copies in the CSA Library.

FROM THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT
Congratulations to our IGCSE Biology teacher, Dr. Silvia Gotz, on successfully completing the online Extension IGCSE Biology course conducted by Cambridge Assessment International Education. Extension Training is for teachers who have already have experience of teaching Cambridge programmes and qualifications and enables them to engage with the syllabuses and curriculum frameworks in greater depth and build confidence in their delivery.
This week most of our students are sitting the ESOL mock exams in preparation for the Cambridge KET, PET, FCE, CAE and CPE exams, which are offered in the ANGLO in November / December. The results of the mocks will be uploaded to Renweb next week.

ANUARIO 2019

SCIENCE FAIR AT ST. ANDREW’S
As we are developing the Scientific Method in science, it seems fitting to do a Project like the science fair where the children can take some of that knowledge, generate a question about a topic they wish to research, and make a discovery using the Scientific Method.
What is the Scientific Method? It is the process which students will be using to research, predict, test and analyze the results of the topic of their choice.
It has been a great and fun learning experience!
The children shared with their parents and peers the knowledge they gained in Science through the experiments they chose to present.
Congratulations to all the groups, they made a great effort and a great job!

RECYCLING PROJECT --CLOSURE: RECYCLING COMPETITION
Last Thursday we officially closed the recycling competition organized as part of the recycling Project. In this competition, children learn about:
- team work.
- how to organize our waste.
- the amount of waste we accumulate in our houses.
- how recycling help us to take care of the environment that God has given us.
We collected almost 5000 kgs of waste.
The paper collected for recycling was sold and the money earned was used for a charity and to pay for some the sound equipment and extra lights for our Daniel play.
ARTE
